Lithuanian millennium Odyssey

The route around the world of "The Millennium Odyssey"

2009 is the millennial celebration of the first mention of Lithuania's name. "Ambersail" visits Oslo on 9th of June - 10th of June, at Vippetangen quay. 11 crews of sailors on rotation is taking part in the voyage, facing the challenges of the sea and the elements. Around 120 Lithuanian sailors will participate in this route. In nine months, the yacht will visit 26 Lithuanian communities in 20 countries in 5 continents.

The yachtsmen's mission has been to act as messengers inviting Lithuanians throughout the world to join in the celebration of this millennium. More than one million people of Lithuanian descent live outside of Lithuania, making up a quarter of all people of Lithuanian descent.

The yacht "Ambersail" is of the VOLVO 60 (former "Assa Abloy") class.

The VOLVO 60 yacht is designed to guarantee speed and reliability.
