Cargo

Port of Oslo can handle cargo in all shapes and sizes.

Oil, salt, cement, stone, timber, newsprint, grain and animal feed make up the bulk of the main products.

To give you a general idea, Port of Oslo handles over 500.000 tonnes of cement , and up to 200.000 tonnes of grain annually. A substantial number of new vehicles is imported through the port. There is also a growing trade in used cars by many private operators.

An increasing amount of the general cargo to Oslo is coming in containers handled by cranes.

Lift-on lift-off (LO/LO) container handling is the fastest growing cargo activity in the port. Still, half of the general cargo is transported by ferries and other ships - roll-on-roll-off (RO/RO).

Oslo harbour also provides safe handling and storage of oil in large volumes. Half the country's oil supplies arrives by tankers through Oslo.
